The only way to be absolutely certain is to ask Hughes if using third-party DNS is possible with their service. If the answer is positive, ask how. (You may have to configure DNS on individual computers, or on another router behind the Hughes gateway.) Then also ask if you have your own non-proxied, non-NATted, non-shared public IP. If you don't, there will be no way to keep any OpenDNS filtering settings associated with your OpenDNS Network.

Currently, OpenDNS doesn't see Hughes allowing the use of OpenDNS:
