Finally found someone who had saved me a slog and cross-compiled DNSCrypt for my router, so I've now got it running, and in my DNS upstream chain.

I've proven that resolution is working, as if I remove it from the DNS config (as the only server "in chain" resolution fails)

However - is there any way to "see" it working? (short of clapping wireshark between my router & ISP modem?)

i.e. can http://www.opendns.com/welcome/ be updated, so that instead of saying

"Your Internet is safer, faster, and smarter because you're using OpenDNS"

It says

"Your Internet is safer, faster, and smarter because you're using OpenDNS with DNS Crypt"

? :)

You can use tcpdump and see that DNS queries are actually encrypted.

Run something like tcpdump -n dst port 53

Without dnscrypt, you will see your actual queries.
With dnscrypt on, what you will see is something that tcpdump is unable to parse as a DNS query.
