I read through the previous discussion regarding some people having trouble choosing their own DNS with Comcast and others can. I also have and router and modem in one with Comcast and I cannot find the option to even edit my DNS to change to the OpenDNS settings. Can anyone help? (The more detailed the better. :) -

It probably is not available. Even if you can use third-party DNS, the router will not necessarily allow you to do so. This is a feature of many ISP-provided gateways.
Not even knowing what Comcast gateway you have will leave even other Comcast users guessing.
