Domain blocking: Lists of domains to bulk submit to OpenDNS

    Here[1] is a growing list of domains to bulk submit to OpenDNS for domain tagging[2]. Any domain already recorded in OpenDNS counts as a yes vote, each of which helps get the domain accepted.

    Any site that groups together specific religions/denominations with the obvious implications that these are worthy of filtering (in other words "bad") while omitting other major religions/denominations (by implication "good") goes onto my own personal "ignore" list.

    Wow, my respect for google just took a serious dive! If they want to list domains by category, why don't they offer a comprehensive list of categories instead of just those a fringe religious fanatic of a specific religion might want to filter?

    Oh, yes, they do have one other categry: Search domains, i.e., sites that compete with google.

    Perhaps http://domainsbycategory.googlepages.com should be filtered out in the hate category, eh?

    sparko: baidu and mysearch provide listings based on keywords, so they are search engines. The lists are not necessarily mutually exclusive, so feel free to submit them somewhere like OpenDNS as adware.

    nzkiwi/redprice: Sure, feel free to ignore, but I would like to point out two things. First, the site is a work in progress (regarding "omitting"), so you don't know what categories are coming next. Second, self censorship is based on intolerance (which is completely different than "hate"). For example, I will not tolerate adware/pornography/phishing/gambling/alcohol/warez, so I ask OpenDNS to block them. You yourself are saying something to the tune of, "I will not tolerate intolerance," which is about as useful as "Everyone who is right agrees with me." Self censorship lets each individual make the decision for himself without pushing it on others, but you are promoting not allowing that choice.

    redprice: The domainsbycategory.googlepages.com is a personal site (not an official Google site), and there are dozens of entries for Google-owned domains in the search category.
