Well I am using openDNS for my home and i have been using it to block adult sites and phishing sites but all the sudden everything is locked down, rapidshare.com myspace.com youtube.com and a few blogs I read. Now in my network settings it shows that all my setting are set to adult and phishing. so i set it to not block anything waited 10 min and everything is still blocked. now if i put them on the whitelist everything is fine, but i dont know why it started blocking things and i dont want to have to discover what pages are block. thanks in advanced for any help.

Everything is getting blocked all of a sudden and I've had it set to block nothing.

Wikipedia is blocked, verizons websites and awhole bunch more keep popping up as blocked.

I have to keep adding everything to white list as well, so something must have gone awry.

Might has to change dns until this gets fixed.

Same here. Every forum/group gets blocked. I simply stopped using OpenDNS and everything is fine now.

biofilter69 -- it looks like you are set to never block myspace.com and rapidshare.com in your account.

mrecuay -- I don't see anything in your account that would explain why you are blocked. I'm still investigating.

goitalone -- looks like you set a bunch of stuff to "never block." I wonder if our "never block" is doing the opposite somehow due to a bug. Testing now.

Well, I just tested some of my "never block" domains and they aren't blocked. I also tested some of my "always block" domains and they are blocked. As everything should be.

    Still investigating...

If you know how to do a DNS request using the "host" command line tool from the Mac OS terminal or from a unix shell, please run:

    host -t txt which.opendns.com
    and
    host -t a myip.opendns.com

    and share the output...

Yeah, I had some stuff unblocked due to requests on my network as well as my own personal use when I first started using the service, but it got to be too overwhelming and I turned it off for the time being.

I just tonight had to add verizons sites to check out some phone deals and now I am about to have to add Wikipedia.org to that old list.

Like I said, there are a lot more sites blocked but I wasn't paying attention to the other ones due to them not being major sites that I visit.

the output should be very small. For example:

    Zion:~ davidu$ host -t txt which.opendns.com
    which.opendns.com descriptive text "1.pao"
    Zion:~ davidu$ host -t a myip.opendns.com
    myip.opendns.com has address 67.215.69.9

I used a tool on Windows Vista though, and I got a whole buncha lines of stuff.

Here is the beginning of each:

    >host -t a myip.opendns.com
    Host not found...
