Domain Name System (DNS) troubles: OpenDNS error page is virtually always wrong and is extremely unhelpful.

I am getting lots of "You tried to visit www.somwhere.somedomain, which is not loading.", only it's with major websites like wikipedia, for example. Worse is the OpenDNS error page provides no way to try again and the page's URL in the error page's URL is mangled so it cannot be used. This is really annoying it it was a complex URL I cannot easily recall, thus forcing me to go back to the program/document I launched the link from so I can try again. Or even if it is a simple URL I typed myself, it's still wasted time while I type it again. A one click solution would be appreciated.
I have to say the error page e.g. http://guide.opendns.com/?url=www.mmogchart.com%2FChart7.html is virtually never correct (that one isn't). 99.9% of the time I try the URL again and it works.
At this rate I'm going to have to drop OpenDNS as I can't stand having to source URLs twice due to there being no way to try a URL again thanks to the error page. Well, that ignores the issue that I shouldn't be getting these errors in the first place, but still - it's far more annoying that the OpenDNS error page prevents me from easily trying the URL again. -
The message "You tried to visit www.example.com, which is not loading." should only appear, if the domain does not exist (NXDOMAIN) or if there is an inconsistency in the DNS (SERVFAIL), so one would expect that there is no need and no way to retry the URL at all. However, if this appears for existing domains as in your example link, then apparently it is in fact an issue with the OpenDNS system. I would suggest to raise a support ticket at http://www.opendns.com/support/contact/Thankful People: wizardling

@wizardling
Have you tried checking the cache with this happens? I don't know if it would help but you might want to check it out just in case. http://www.opendns.com/support/cache/
I just went to the site you listed and did not have any issues while just clicking around, maybe there was something amiss with the OpenDNS cache at the time but it seems to be working now.
If nothing else seems to work I would open a support ticket like @rotblitz suggests, couldn't hurt.Thankful People: wizardling -

Yup, I've opened a support ticket and with luck someone will contact me soon. I've not checked the cache before.
Here BTW is a Wikipedia example: http://guide.opendns.com/?url=en.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FMaster_of_Orion
which resulted from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_of_Orion - a very real URL. -

Well, I am getting the same problem here. With very known url's. Even wwww.google.co.uk gave me once the error! I am sending a support ticket too but don't understand why this happens in the first place.Thankful People: wizardling -

How long does a reply usually take? -

wizardling: What do you mean? After hitting the enter button to go browsing to the page it takes about 10-30 secs before the OpenDNS error page comes up. Then it can take anywhere between 1 minute up to hours before the page suddenly can be reached. (Off course am I not continuously trying.)

wizardling was rather thinking about an OpenDNS response on a support ticket. This can vary, but is usually within 24 hours and highly depends on their workload, of course.

What rotblitz said :-)
I guess I also need to keep in mind that while it's Tuesday here in NZ, it's only Monday there so people are probably still spooling up after weekends off. *sits tight* -

Hmmm... there's something very odd going on then, because that means I've now had one support request made through the website fail and one email fail to be delivered. No bounce received here BTW. Anyway, thanks for making contact today :-) -
Hi people,
Just found this thread and wondered why no further explanation was forthcoming?
I haven't seriously started using it yet and this would be a big turnoff - especially as I'm in Oz at the other end of the earth and things are always timing out from here... :-(
Was hoping this might be a help - maybe even a selling point for the very active mob in Australia.

I am having similar problems with roundrockisd.org. I refreshed the OpenDNS server. I have emailed support (but did not open a ticket) and have not heard back. The url resolves if I use my ISP's servers.
