Hi,
Finally on yesterday i am able to configure UT starcom Router WA3002G4 with BSNL DATAONE connection.
How to set up >> go to www.mydataone.net and set autodial settings >> remember you must have the unlimited download plan.
The same time i configured the OpenDNS also and it is working fine. but since morning it is not working.
I checked following:
1. in network all the computers i checked at www.opendns.com/welcome >> test passed.
2. I installed the dns updater software and installed on my computer. >> error warning >> saying select dynimic IP. I selected in the Dashboard.
3. when i log on to www.opendns.com >> it is displaying my id and IP >> 59.93.94.244 >> but not saying "You are using Opendns" >> on same computer www.opendns.com/welcome >> passed.
4. In router settings >> it is displaying the Opendns >> 208.67.222.222 .....
please suggest how to fix.
thanks in advance.
More::
it is showing the stats of my current ip -
You need to check "welcome.opendns.com" not "opendns.com/welcome", that's important, because the second link always shows that you are using OpenDNS.
Run "nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com." in a command prompt and tell us the output. -

I've got the same issue.
It says passed using welcome.opendns.com or opendns.com/welcome but it still does not show that I'm using opendns.
Here's the output of the nslookup:
C:\nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com
Server: resolver1.opendns.com
Address: 208.67.222.222
Non-authoritative answer:
which.opendns.com text =
"4.pao" -

Hi Marc,
I checked with welcome.opendns.com >> test passed.
Not able to run nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com. >
Name : which.opendns.com
Address: 208.67.216.32
please suggest .. -
@hackersoft
Try restarting your computer. Maybe not all Windows libraries are using the new nameservers yet.
@centrexindia
Please open a support ticket and tell them what you have done. -

I called to our ISP >> www.bsnl.co.in >> the india's largest ISP. the expert saying "Opendns calming the faster access to the net but actually it is not "
If you are using Open DNS >> you will lose the speed of internet browsing >> same i am experiencing too.
Any way.. we can't get better support with FREE.
thanks -
@centrexhome
India is far away from any OpenDNS locations. Your ISP might be true, but it's not a must. I guess your ISP is using HTTP and DNS proxies to pseudo-speedup your internet and that could also be the reason why OpenDNS does not work for you. -
Same problem here, until a few days ago it was working fine.
nslookup command:
C:\>nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com.
Servidor: home
Address: 192.168.1.254
Respuesta no autoritativa:
which.opendns.com text =
"3.pao"
Thanks in advance. -
I noticed the new front page no longer shows whether you're using ODNS. That was an easy way for me to tell my settings were working.
-
@hparker
Why do you think you are not using OpenDNS? You are using the Palo Alto servers.
@jshier
You can easily see if you are using OpenDNS by visiting http://welcome.opendns.com/
You may want to bookmark this link, so you have it at hand every time. -
@rotblitz
I don't see the "You are using OpenDNS" message at home page and some addresses are very slow (4-5 min.) or send the "Opps" error. Domain Block it's working.
Maybe is a problem with my ISP
Thanks -

@centrexhome: Well, I agree with the expert that OpenDNS is calming.

Hi,
It is not showing that " You are using Opendns" at the Home page of opendns.com, but test is passed at welcome.opendns.com.
Only the Adult site blocking feature is not working, typo mistakes; shortcut is working.
Waiting for reply of the support team. meanwhile if you have some idea, please suggest. -

Hi,
I think the opendns services working some times, recently i checked the Adult site Blocking features are working, Home Page not saying that you are using opendns. I visited one site >> he installed opendns button >> and button showing "You are using Opendns"
The updater software is always giving error to check the Dynamic Update at settings of Dashboard; which is already checked.
I think some bug is there in the software or services.
I have to wait till they rectify it. -
"Home Page not saying that you are using opendns".
If you mean http://www.opendns.com/ - forget about this. It doesn't display any longer if you're using OpenDNS.
As I wrote above, you must visit http://welcome.opendns.com/ now!
"The updater software is always giving error to check the Dynamic Update at settings of Dashboard".
Did you ensure that the network/host name in the Updater EXACTLY matches the "label" value of your network at the OpenDNS dashboard? -

@rotblitz
""Home Page not saying that you are using opendns". " >> I think very recently they change from opendns home page >> earlier it says ... any way leave it.
"As I wrote above, you must visit http://welcome.opendns.com/ now!" >> Test passed ! No issue at any time, always pass.
"Updater EXACTLY matches the "label"" >> label is same .. no changes .. but not updating the new DNS setting.
Why www.BSNL.in is not setting up your service on there DNS servers ?? if they are not doing, why don't you try your own one server at BSNL rack.
It will give faster access for us.
After installing >> 208.67.222.222 >> at my router, i feel the speed of browsing of web-sites are became slow. but i can manage as i need to control time-waster.
-
@centrexindia
You are confusing me. What is then your problem? Sure, your DNS lookups may be slow and occasionally timing out, as you are far away from the next OpenDNS location. This cannot be changed short term. But what else does not work? -

@rotblitz
the updater software is not working. It always gives error msg.
I checked label entry many times. -
Try using https://updates.opendns.com/nic/update?hostname=YOUR_LABEL_HERE directly. Enter your credentials and tell us the output, please.

Uncheck "Send update over DNS-O-Matic".
You may check "Log IP updates in updates.log" to keep a log of the update results.
And now - delete the .doc from rapidshare again, one could misuse the information!Thankful People: hparker, centrexhome -
I was unable to download the doc yet, but if you want to use DNS-O-Matic you must make sure that the label either matches "all.dnsomatic.com" or the service name on your DNS-O-Matic dashboard.
As rotblitz said, uncheck the box if you don't use DNS-O-Matic. -
Hi, I am having the same problem. I have the Oops screen appearing and there is no info displayed on the home page to say that opendns is working.
-
@yaseen
If you read thoroughly again: no, you do not have the same problem, and this is not your problem here. You better should have opened your own thread.
"I have the Oops screen appearing"
Set up the OpenDNS server addresses on the router or on the computer(s).
Where do you think that you have set up OpenDNS?
"there is no info displayed on the home page to say that opendns is working".
That's normal. You must visit http://welcome.opendns.com/ instead.Thankful People: centrexhome -

I'm new reg using openDNS. i seting in my router but after that, i see in that STATS is error "All of your networks have stats disabled. You can enable some or all of them in the network’s Advanced Settings. "Go Enable Stats"" i already set up at networks but cant enable it. How to do it for this trouble? Mybe have wrong setting. can friends help me?
-
https://www.opendns.com/dashboard/settings/ > "Advanced Settings" > "Enable Stats and Logs"
-
Can you just put the "You are using OpenDNS" bit back on the homepage?
Seems everyone misses it, and it was very useful! -
Define http://welcome.opendns.com/ as your browser's homepage, so you see it each time you start the browser.
-
I'd rather not rotblitz - it's not a very helpful page, as it only has one function - the real homepage has many more helpful links on it that I like to use.
It's odd that OpenDNS encourage us to use SmartButtons (http://www.opendns.com/about/share/) and yet fail to put one on their own front page.
Bizarre.Thankful People: rotblitz, centrexindia
