In both IE7 and FF http://guide.opendns.com/ is just a blank page, am i missing something?
It is blank if i type in the URL or if directed there by mistyping in the address box. -
Seems fine here (NYC, 6/11/07 @ 2:31pm EDT)

Norton Internet Security seems to now block http://guide.opendns.com/ saying that it is an Ad.
Content Blocked:

User:
Action: Blocked
Type: Ad
URL: http://guide.opendns.com/
Data: (Script) (Reason: "/banner.") -
AdministratorWhoa? What? That's crazy.
-
The first two times I loaded it in ff it was blank then it started producing a page.
IE after the above also produced a page.
I do not run Norton but I do run adMuncher :) (doesnt show as triggering a filter).
Server does (or was) seem to be returning blank pages!
Edit: I am unable to replicate any more though

i dont use Norton...but does it have any custom rules? Sounds like it's a custom rule that is blocking it.
Or does it just blanket block the whole domain? -

I wonder if it's the 'onLoad="testforbanner();"' that's tripping Norton. -
This has happened to me before. I use Firefox and I have Norton. The problem has gone away now. It could also be my AdBlock Plus extension in Firefox.
-
I'm having a similar problem - the OpenDNS Guide appears, then vanishes !
When I use "view source" the page coding still appears to be there.
I'm using IE7 and Kaspersky Internet Security V.7 -
i have a problem with my LAN....
when i type nslookup.
DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.
Can't find server name for address 208.67.222.222:timed out

i hope you can help me....tnx -
I'm seeming to have the same problem here 10/16/08

Sorry, what is your problem?
- guide.opendns.com shows a blank page?
- nslookup times out?

Also getting a blank page here for the guide page if it has any ? parameters after the main URL.
If I just go straight to http://guide.opendns.com - no problem at all.
If I go to http://guide.opendns.com/?url=test&client=ie7 - just get a blank page - HTTP 500 error.
London 16th Oct 2008 - 15.49
Any ideas? -
I just tried both, http://guide.opendns.com/?url=open+dns&client=ff20 and http://guide.opendns.com/?url=test&client=ie7 with IE7 and FF3, and the page is not blank for me, but behaves as usual. This seems to be rather an individual browser problem.
Also I did a quick desk-check of the page HTML source for the first URL, and it looks to be the same as referenced here. Check the page error log of your browser to see what is reported. For IE click the warning sign on the left side of the status bar, in FF go to Extras > Error Console (or so). Beside this, I ran out of ideas. -
Just to update - I have tried on all 15 PC's in the office with IE6/7 - and all of them get the blank page/HTTP 500 error.
All was working fine until today - something must have changed?
On my other office network (with similar setup) all still works fine. -
Strange, HTTP 500 means internal server error, which would be an OpenDNS server, e.g. guide.opendns.com. But then this should be consistent for every client, no matter from where it connects. The only explanation I would have is that it is to do with your ISP for whatever reason. Do you have different ISPs for your two office locations? Beside this, I ran out of ideas.
-
I also have tried multiple computer using FF and IE across a platform of PC's XP Pro and Home, 98 etc. 30 or so systems.
As well as changing my home system over I get the same result using XP and MAC systems.
FF Console shows no errors
IE shows HTTP 500 errors.
if I go straight to guide.opendns.com I get the nice search box, but if i type something in there I still get a blank page or HTTP 500 error dependent on browser.
I use a sonicwall at work and a timecapsule at home.
When I goto www.opendns.com the upper right hand corner says I"m using open DNS so I believe i have it configured properly. -
Haaa..
did this and it seems to be working now.
Went to the command prompt in XP
ipconfig /flushdns
all seems to work again. Well at least on some systems...
EDIT.. not working again -
I have opened a general support ticket now, with reference to this thread. I also get now a blank page.

AdministratorI am looking into this. Are you still having problems? If so, please send me the output of the instructions at http://www.opendns.com/support/article/208 so that I can see which server you are hitting. -
-
Yes, I'm still having this problem.
The output: "1.lon" -

AdministratorCan you send us the output of the following command from your machine:
nslookup guide.opendns.com.
(note that the trailing dot after com is important) -

Now it works again. guide.opendns.com is no longer blank.
Still using "1.lon", and lookup for guide.opendns.com is still 208.67.217.136. -
