Can anyone help explain what these entries in the statistics page mean?

    .in-addr.arpa
    _ldap._tcp
    db._dns-sd._udp.gateway.2wire.net
    b._dns-sd._udp.gateway.2wire.net
    dr._dns-sd._udp.gateway.2wire.net
    lb._dns-sd._udp.gateway.2wire.net
    r._dns-sd._udp.gateway.2wire.net
    isatap.gateway.2wire.net
    pt.veoh.com.gateway.2wire.net
    wpad.gateway.2wire.net
    view.websudoku.com.gateway.2wire.net
    block.opendns.com.gateway.2wire.net
    .gateway.2wire.net
    view.atdmt.com.gateway.2wire.net
    svcs.cnn.com.gateway.2wire.net

    Thanks! :)

I think I found part of my answer in another thread:
    http://forums.opendns.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=3097
The *.gateway.2wire.net entries I can only guess are DNS lookups done by my daisy-chained second router.

For the rest: just search the internet for ".in-addr.arpa", "_ldap._tcp" and "wpad" to see what they are good for.

Also, do an "ipconfig /all" in a command prompt window, and you will see why so often ".gateway.2wire.net" is unnecessarily appended to your DNS lookups.

If the .gateway.2wire.net is unnecessary, can I remove/rename it in my router without affecting the network? Outside of that network I usually just get one with the name of my ISP in it.

I'm assuming you're referring it being the "DNS suffix". I can't believe I didn't google that yet. I still only have a vague idea about what it's for.

Sorry this is deviating from the purpose of the forum.

I do not think it has to do with your router.
Again: "...do an "ipconfig /all" in a command prompt window...".

It may show something like this (extract only):

    Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : gateway.2wire.net
    Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
    IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
    WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
    DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : gateway.2wire.net

Therefore you must go into the TCP/IP settings of your connection on the computer, and remove these suffixes and click the radio buttons / checkboxes for building it.

Edit: ...unless you are sure these are needed for your environment to work. Usually in home networks this DNS suffix stuff is useless.

Changing the "Domain Name" setting in the router did the trick of changing the domain that shows up in Stats. I'm not sure where exactly on the network (either the router itself or one of its clients) these requests are coming from. Thanks.
