Does the games category only block websites or does it also block connections to online game servers (E.g. playing Call of Duty online)? -
DNS is not about the web (HTTP/HTTPS) only, it is about everything having to do with name resolution to IP addresses.
Also, a category itself does not block anything, you must block this category explicitly in your dashboard settings, so this blocking is valid only in YOUR network.
If you know the domain name(s) for e.g. "Call of Duty", then you can check at http://www.opendns.com/support/checker/ if that domain is in any category and which ones, else you may tag it to get it added.
Edit: I checked for callofduty.com, and this is tagged in the games category.
http://domain.opendns.com/callofduty.com
So any application trying to access callofduty.com will be blocked, if you have selected the category games in your dashboard.
Another edit: I made a strange observation.
Although gameoftheyear.callofduty.com is tagged as games, one can still vote...

Same is for stats.callofduty.com and codwwcollector.callofduty.com

Why is this? -
