I configured a windows 2003 server to use opendns on our school network. So far so good.
The domain uses a .local extension.
Now, when I try to log in the domain from any Mac (Leopard), it takes at best more than 2 minutes to get to the Finder.
So I guess the request is wrongly directed to OpenDNS...
i tried to change my Opendns dashboard advanced settings by adding .local to exceptions for VPN users but to no avail...
I still find local requests in Opendns stats and login is still slow or impossible :-(

For now, I disabled Opendns but that means no filter for the students...
    Is there a solution ?

Try with not just ".local" (which would be without effect anyway, should be "local"), but also the full names as found in your stats.

Right, the problem is certainly with your Win2k3 server configuration. You should disable forwarding for internal names and domains. I don't just have a server at hand, but I know that this configuration is available. I recall that it is also described in some threads here.

You need to reverse whatever you did, and follow these instructions on your internal windows dns servers:
    https://www.opendns.com/start/device/windows-server-2003

    Thanks for your help.
I added "local" and the domain name "ecole.local" to exceptions but no change on the Mac side.

"You should disable forwarding for internal names and domains": searching the threads I didn't found anything.

marcusburge, the windows server is configured following the link you gave...

Maybe I should add that only Macs are having problems, not Vista neither Ubuntu boxes...
