Are you using OpenDNS for pure DNS, or do you have an OpenDNS account with related network?

As OpenDNS really(!) does not block anything (beside phishing sites and Conficker worm domains), you're probably using another OpenDNS user's settings, who did not keep his dynamic IP address updated in his OpenDNS dashboard. You now got "his" former IP address, therefore using his settings for filtering and blocking. Bad enough!

Under this perspective, the blog article you mentioned is pretty stupid.

What can you do to prevent from this? If you have a dynamic public IP address, disconnect from and reconnect to the internet to obtain another IP address from your ISP. Then you should be good to go. To more permanently prevent from happening this, you may maintain an OpenDNS account and keep your IP address updated in your OpenDNS dashboard (automatically with a related program). So YOU determine what is being filtered or blocked or not, if at all.

"now I've switched to 'Advantage DNS'"
Bad choice, as these guys really block stuff without user's choice, unlike OpenDNS.

"tell me when OPEN DNS is back to normal"
It is always at normal. But you still aren't. Go and get it changed!

Well whoever put that blog up had the webmail category chosen for blocking.. of course it would block Gmail... simple solution.. either whitelist gmail.com or turn off the webmail category.. not really opendns's fault that for once there is a site that is correctly categorized.. not sure about the is not safe part though, somebody was a bit strict on their custom message..

    And:
    "DNS poisoned??"

OpenDNS is about the last DNS server implementation that can be poisoned.

OpenDNS never ever blocks anything, beside phishing and Conficker sites, believe me.
That's either you or your network administrator requesting OpenDNS to do so. That's a big difference, isn't it?

So, as a consequence, get yourself or your network administrator to not request OpenDNS to block Gmail for you...

So, you are intentionally using OpenDNS? http://welcome.opendns.com/

Can you paste the URL of the block page you are landing here?

Have you set up an OpenDNS network at https://www.opendns.com/dashboard/networks/ and is your IP address there in sync with your public IP address at http://myip.dnsomatic.com/ ?

Edit: Why don't you follow the instructions given above?

Yes, this is what I expected. You have picked up the dynamic IP address another OpenDNS user had before, so you are using his settings now. So follow the instructions above and in other threads to obtain another public IP address. If you are not able to do so for any reason, open a support ticket at http://www.opendns.com/support/contact/
OpenDNS staff must release your current IP address out of the other OpenDNS account then.

That funny.I can't connect sites cause somebody block that sites using OpenDNS dashboard with a dynamic IP adress.Do u think that was my fault and i need to work for that to unblock this sites. This is OpenDNS's job not mine.I can't try to fix everytime a dynamic ip blocked from other people.
    Edit: I open a support ticket,though

that's the problem with dynamic Ip addresses.. and No Opendns has no way to tell the the dynamic ip somebody else was using is now assigned to you if they aren't running the Ip Updater..

Support ticket is the only way for Opendns to know that the Ip Has switched to you..
Although it seems like they may be able to add something to the dashboard that checks the Ip address you are currently using and allows you to refresh and get it to use your settings instead of the other persons settings..

essekco, you have a dynamic IP address and did not keep it updated, either. I do realize that this can be a pain for those who just want to use OpenDNS for nameservers only, but creating a network account and keeping your IP address updated are crucial to avoid the issues you are experiencing.

To get a new IP address so you can create an account (or, I suppose, you could just do this every time you experience filtering), unplug your modem or router that connects you to your ISP for a time (about 5-30 minutes), and when you reconnect you should have been issued a new IP address.

I would consider using that opportunity to Add A Network, and use the Updater or an update-capable router to keep your IP address in sync with your OpenDNS account.
