I can't get to several sites today that I use constantly, one being a proboards forum for my company. I didn't have an account with OpenDNS until today when I signed up to try to get this fixed. It told me I had to have a network to use settings so I put my IP in. It still says I have to add a network but when I put the IP in, it tells me its already there! Not a happy camper right now. How do I get control of my own system back from OpenDNS?

"when I signed up to try to get this fixed"
Did you ensure that your problems reaching sites were DNS related? If not, your use of OpenDNS will still not fix it, as OpenDNS cannot do much more than any other DNS service.

"It told me I had to have a network to use settings so I put my IP in."
No, you don't have to have one, if you want to use pure DNS only.
Do you use OpenDNS now? Check at http://welcome.opendns.com/

"when I put the IP in, it tells me its already there!"
Did you get a dynamic public IP address from your ISP?
Network already exists: you are trying to add an IP address, which is still reserved by another lazy OpenDNS user, who missed to update his IP address. Switch off and on your router (or unplug your internet/DSL cable) to obtain another IP address, and try again then. But as I said, you do not really need to have a network yet.

"How do I get control of my own system back from OpenDNS?"
OpenDNS does not control your system, in no way. It just services the DNS part of your internet connection. If you don't want to use it any longer, just undo what you have done to configure the OpenDNS DNS servers on your computer or your router.

Edit: Back to the subject "Blocked sites"
What does this mean? Do you get to http://block.opendns.com/?url=example.com ?
If not, this kind of "blocking" is nothing to do with OpenDNS.

I think what he is trying to say is that he was using Opendns before but without an account... so he tried to create an account to remove the block from his settings when he found out he was under someone else's settings..

Beside the fact that this is a duplicate of http://forums.opendns.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=4152&page=1#Item_5 - why don't you simply follow the instructions given above???
