OpenDNS services: Having to manually enter OpenDNS nameservers so often, what could be the problem?

well,
first of I should say, alright this is really a great system and stuff..
but seems like there is so many things I have to figure out.
my main reason for using OpenDNS is in fact not blocking sites, but being able to view the banned pages. you see lately there have been too much bans here, and it really bothers me. (by the way, don't get me wrong when I see banned sites; I don't mean adult sites by that)
as for my problem, I am not sure if it's the place to put it, sorry if not.
seems like this:
I write the OpenDNS nameservers on the page of the modem settings, which is an aztech dsl600ew. it seems to be working fine for a while, but for some reason it stops working. and I also realized that whenever I restart my computer (a toshiba windows XP) and when I check the modem settings the nameservers aren't there, hence the system is now working. modem settings page I am talking about is called "DNS Proxy". there is a dropdown menu that has 4 items saying "only auto-discovered dns servers" and "only user-configured dns servers" and two more. and I choose "only user-configured".
well not sure if that made sense at all. but tech talk is not my field unfortunately. I hope someone will understand and respond me.
what should I do to use OpenDNS without having to manually enter the nameservers all the time? (by the way I am using OpenDNS updater) -

You might need a router for Opendns to work instead of setting directly in the DSL modem..
<Edit> after Googling the Aztech it appears it is a DSL modem/Router <Edit>
Can't seem to find any other fixes for Azttech.. -
well I have checked the router things and so. but yeah as you said my modem is a modem/router.
and if I put it much more briefly, I manually configure the dns, it works, but then-especially after restart- it goes back to "auto-discovered dns".
so isn't there a solution for this?
please someone respond.
thanks -

Are you restarting or resetting the router? Use restart, not reset.
If restarting does cause the problem, don't restart the router.
Ensure that any "dsn suffix" settings are cleared.
If the settings still refuse to stick, you'll need to check with the router vendor, or possibly your ISP.
If you cannot get this to work at all, and get no solution from the vendor or ISP, set up OpenDNS nameservers on the computer(s) instead. -

even though it is a modem/router, I wonder if the DSL provider has the settings locked so that it reloads its settings on reboot?
Hmm.. Check this page and the Firmware version on your Aztech
http://www.aztech.com/support_malaysia.html#dsl600ew
there is 1 listed for a DNS server problem.. not Opendns but maybe same issue?
Q: Do I always have to enter Streamyx DNS, even when using as router mode?
A: You may download the DNS fixed firmware.
-
well,
I think I sorted it out.
it seems that clicking "apply" on the settings page wouldn't be enough without clicking "save settings" which I later realized to be there.
sorry for bothering.
everything seems to be working quite well!
thanks everyone who tried to help. and sorry again. -
No problem, thanks for the feed-back.
