can you please seem to give me exact instuctions of how to do that on a mac becuase i am not able to do it i am still able to see the adult sites please help like if you could tell me like go to finder or system preferences there is when i get confused -
@santigolf2
Are @maintenance's instructions/questions not exact enough to answer them?
Again:
1. Flush the browser cache (depends on your browser how to do this) and the local DNS resolver cache as described in http://www.opendns.com/support/article/209 for the Mac.
Is adult content now blocked on this Mac after flushing the caches?
2. Please check if you are using OpenDNS at all for your DNS lookups.
You can check this by visiting http://welcome.opendns.com/ with your browser.
What does this page tell you?

Is this clearer now? -
"Are @maintenance's instructions/questions not exact enough to answer them?"
They are not exact enough, if you are a fairly new Mac user. Those are command prompts that one enters in the Terminal Application. Most Mac users never use the terminal application. (the Terminal Application is located inside the Utilities Folder, which is in the Applications Folder)
Santigolf2,
The easiest way to flush all the caches is to do the following:
1. Shut down your computer or computers
2. Turn off any routers or airport base stations that are connected to your modem
(Modem being whatever device has the phone line plug running to it)
3. Turn on or plug in the FIRST device that connects to your modem
4. Once the thing you turned on in #3 is ready (usually green lights) - Then plug in everything else.
5. When the things in #4 are ready to use (usually green lights again) - Then turn on the computer or computers.
6. Once your computer is ready - Click on the OpenDNS Updater to update your IP address. (the updater should be in the menus at the top of the screen - and probably in the Dock too)
7. Verify that your are using OpenDNS by visiting <http://welcome.opendns.com/> with your browser. -

would leopard cache cleaner downloaded from this link would work for something http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/leopardcachecleaner.html -

Leopard Cache Cleaner 4.0.26 - Unsure what this does, as no particular caches are specified. As a "disk utility" it may clean browser caches, but will it cover all browsers (likely Safari, possibly FF)? I would guess that it does not clean the local resolver cache, but I have no way of knowing from the lame description. Download it and try it.
But, to map this out for you:
Local resolver cache, Leopard:
Start Terminal -- "(the Terminal Application is located inside the Utilities Folder, which is in the Applications Folder)"
In the Terminal window, type
dscacheutil -flushcache
and hit enter.
Exit Terminal.
FireFox cache: (This may vary a bit by FF version.)
Tools > Options > Advanced > Network tab > Offline Storage section > Clear Now.
If you ever want to empty cookies, Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies section > Show Cookies > Remove.
Safari cache:
Safari menu > Empty Cache.
"my open dns updater dosnt open"
This would be a problem with your system, the updater, or a failure to install it properly. You are using the Mac updater, yes? You read the Readme.rtf file included in the zip archive, and followed the instructions?

Are you sure that, A)You are running Leopard, and B) You entered the command correctly?

http://it.toolbox.com/blogs/macsploitation/new-in-leopard-dscacheutil-20061
Do you maybe need to
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache
You will have to sudo, or run as root, to perform some of the root/administrator functions, apparently. (Sudo is better in this case. You only want root privileges long enough to execute such commands.) -

Well, run the command with sudo as shown, then. That should do it. -

couldnt do it i dont know what the problem is still Ive tried everything and dosnt work i read about this software not working very well with airport extreme routers may this have any effect -
If you don't understand or feel comfortable using the sudo command, or using the terminal application - just restart your router and computer, like I explained further back in my post. That will clear ALL the caches in all of your hardware.
You can not sign in as the root user on a Mac unless you have set up a root user password. You can usually execute root user commands by entering your administrator password.
I use an Airport Extreme Base Station too, so that is not the problem. I don't use Firefox or Safari. I do know that Safari does not always clear the cache and browser history properly when you select "Empty Cache." Use "reset Safari" instead (make sure the top two boxes are checked when the window pops up)
Sometimes it tells me I am not using OpenDNS when, in fact I am. If the "Update OpenDNS Now!" does not work when you select it, then use the "Open Dashboard..." selection instead. That will take you to your welcome page on the OpenDNS website. You can update your network from there. Select Networks from the list. Then look for the little green network icon, next to your network's name - and click on it.
You said you were trying to block porn sites. You can also see if you are using OpenDNS by entering the URL of a known porn site in your browser and see if it gets blocked. If you don't know one, then do a google search for something like "top ten porn sites" - that should bring up a bunch of choices.
