Why in heaven's name is Expert's Exchange (site dedicated to tech support) tagged as adware? Advertising? BLOCKED? Someone is hallucinating on this one.
-
You're wrong, it is not categorized as Adware or Advertising, just as Forums / Message boards.
http://domain.opendns.com/www.experts-exchange.com
Why do you think it's tagged different?
It's just submitted to other categories, but not approved, so no effect.
You even can vote it down! -

i hate to say it but i think youre right ( about ppl hallucinating. )
there are a ton of domains that are submitted in some strange categories, by 'top users' no less, and in some instances, even community mods. it is kindof unnerving. look at the categories that 'example.com' has been submitted to:
http://domain.opendns.com/example.com
that example (no pun intended) really highlights the problem imho.
i've disabled all content blocking on my network for the time being. : (Thankful People: rotblitz, Red Prince, maintenance -

example.com does not highlight a problem as it is an example domain run by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) and nothing more..as an example domain, I think it's perfectly logical for it to be submitted to all categories and have some rejected as an example of domain tagging..
Yes, there are problems in domain tagging but I'm not so sure Example.com can be used as an example of them
"You have reached this web page by typing "example.com", "example.net", or "example.org" into your web browser.
These domain names are reserved for use in documentation and are not available for registration. See RFC 2606, Section 3."
"3. Reserved Example Second Level Domain Names
The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) also currently has the
following second level domain names reserved which can be used as
examples.
Eastlake & Panitz Best Current Practice [Page 2]
RFC 2606 Reserved Top Level DNS Names June 1999
example.com
example.net
example.org

Weird thing is that example.net http://domain.opendns.com/example.net
was chosen for uncatorized by Sayds.. and it give a drop down to choose a category for that selection.. does that mean anybody could just go and pick what category they think Sayds meant?\
<Edit: It does, i just went to 1 of the categories in the list and without any prompt or anything it changed it to that category added by me with a yes vote.. >
maybe this is how some others have gotten tagged as adding weird categories to other domains? -
@infinity306
"I'm not so sure Example.com can be used as an example of them"
I am. Please compare
http://domain.opendns.com/example.com
with
http://domain.opendns.com/google.com
and
http://domain.opendns.com/facebook.com
and ... ...
See the difference? Me not!!!
You???
"does that mean anybody could just go and pick what category they think Sayds meant? It does,..."
Yes it does, I often have seen and used that. However, I wonder how one can submit a domain without tagging it as something, but leaving it with another user to find the right tag...

not as an example of messed up tagging.. as example.com/example.net and example.org are meant to be used in documentation purposes.. I see it as it being an example of how a tagged site would look.. all categories awaiting votes or rejected for categories..Yes google.com and Facebook.com in all those categories are messed up tagging..
and yes I see a difference.. Google.com and Facebook.com have been approved in categories.. Example.com has not...
as for the uncategorized.. i can understand having somebody else choose the category and it switching to being added by them.. problem is all you have to do is move your mouse to 1 of the listed categories and it switches it and doesn't give a confirmation -
"as example.com/example.net and example.org are meant to be used in documentation purposes"
Yes, this is your and mine understanding...
"I see it as it being an example of how a tagged site would look"
Sure, but you see the effect...
At the end they "look" similar if not the same.
"Google.com and Facebook.com have been approved in categories.. Example.com has not..."
I rather think approval is not possible at all by the program, same as for OpenDNS and some other domains and some "top sites". Else I can imagine that some mods may not have understood, and it would have been approved.
"as for the uncategorized.."
Yes, but how does one do that? I didn't detect the possibility yet to submit a category without tagging it at the same time. A special function for privileged people with badges and mods?
"move your mouse to 1 of the listed categories and it switches it"
Agreed, there should be at least an "Ok", "Submit", "Apply" or "Confirm" button. Just selecting from the drop-down list should not submit the form, but it does. -

I wonder if uncategorized are from a while ago.. might not be possible any more(which would be reasonable, since there are enough badly categorized 1's without uncategorized being able to be tagged..) -

@rotblitz you can still tag as Uncategorized.. just managed it on http://domain.opendns.com/text.com...
I really think that uncategorized serves no purpose really, not much more then having it untagged... luckily uncategorized 1's cant be voted on before being categorized.. just imagine the possibilities if uncategorized was approved on a site. would that block everybody who didn't whitelist that site from it? -
Now I know how to submit a domain as "uncategorized".
