I'm trying to get OpenDNS Updater working on my Mac. It's installed fine, etc., but when I actually try to update (with network field blank) I get:

"The network you entered either does not exist, or has not been configured for dynamic IP updates. Check your OpenDNS network settings online"

The Updater says "The network field is only required if you have multiple networks in your OpenDNS account." I do not.

If I enter a value in the field, I still get the same message as above.

Note that I am using OpenDNS with a mobile broadband provider, and I have a feeling the IP address it detects is not unique to my machine - there is some NAT going on.

    Any advice is much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tom

Even though it says it is not required... Give your network some sort of name (label) , in your OpenDNS website > Dashboard > Network. Then give it the same name in the OpenDNS Updater.

Every now and then I can not get the Updater to work from my Mac. I have to go to the Dashboard > Network Settings and update it manually. There will be a little green network icon next to the network name you can click on.

    Hi,

Trying to add the network online says the network already exists. I have a feeling as my mobile broadband provider is using NAT that more than one user is getting the same public IP address. The first user with that address who also uses OpenDNS is probably able to add the network, but everyone else is prevented.

My theory is that this resulted in problems this morning as that user enabled content filtering (preventing access to Facebook, among others) for all of us that had the same IP.

    Any thoughts?

Right- you cannot do that on mobile broadband unless your ISP provides you with your own assured IP address. Most use a proxy or NAT.

If you were "lucky" enough to get it to work for you, many others would be subject to your settings. See the response to your post here:
