Hiya, trying to get oppendns setup on a mini notebook which is running windows ce 5. i tried adding the name addresses 208.67 etc to primary and secondary serrvers but no cigar:( how do i do it? at the moment i am connecting via wifi on home broadband. do i have to install it on router?

"how do i do it?"

Use 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 as DNS server addresses.
"do i have to install it on router?"
You can do this. It is the preferred option, as it covers all devices in your network.

"i still have full access to the internet which is what i don't want"
Please explain what exactly you want, and we may be able to help. -
sorry if i wasn't clear. i want the mini notebook to have some sort of content filtering so the 9 year old who is getting it from santa can't access any adult sites. i was under the impression if i setup opendns on this notebook then that would be the case? is it? the notebook will be accessing the net mostly via a router at home and i don't want that filtered so if you can help thanks a million:)

That was pretty clear! So just configure OpenDNS on the computer and not on the router. See my earlier link above. Please note that the netbook may not work with these settings in other networks, especially ones you do not own.

Right.
Then, add your network at your Dashboard, and configure your filtering settings (since this seems to be your main interest). Also, install and run the OpenDNS Updater to keep your IP address in sync. -
See thats the problem, there is no tutorial for installing it in CE and when i tried doing it manually i got the Oops error message:( i opened the wifi connection settings and put the proper nameservers into the right place but it didn't work. i don't know how to install it on the netbook. so thats where i'm stuck.

I would look at the MS site, or in the WinCE help files for how to access your network settings and find the TCP/IP config.
Which version of WinCE are you using?

This would indicate configurability of some sort. -
"there is no tutorial for installing it in CE"
Normally there wouldn't be a need for tutorials at all. Simply put the OpenDNS server addresses in the related fields, no matter what system. And it's not an installation, just an easy configuration exercise.
If you got the Oops message at http://welcome.opendns.com/ , you probably forgot to flush your browser cache and local resolver cache. No idea how the latter would work on Windows CE, but rebooting should certainly help. The browser cache, however, needs to be flushed manually, also known as purging the "Temporary Internet Files". -
Great, i'll try it now:) thanks btw
