hi,
i'm the IT person for a small school and have been using this openDNS solution successfully for a bit now. i do have a weird problem though, i have one user who gets google.ca blocked. i have added google.ca to the never block whitelist but the student still gets the page blocked message when trying to access it. if they try google.ca or www.google.ca it results in the same thing. i have roughly 15 other students in the class who can access google just fine, all are being filtered from the router.
this seems weird to me that only one user is having trouble so i'm hoping someone has some ideas on why this might be happening.

Is this what you get? http://block.opendns.com/?url=www.google.ca&ablock
I can think of the following:
- A caching problem, so flush the browser cache and the local resolver cache (ipconfig/flushdns).
- Do an "ipconfig/all" to see if the computer possibly uses another DNS service. -
Cache is the only thing I can think of that would cause that problem.

hi All,
first thing tomorrow morning when the student brings their laptop in, i'll clear the various caches and post back the results. thanks for your replies.

hi All,
it was a caching issue. i flushed the dns cache and ran tfc to clean the IE cache. www.google.ca now works!
thanks to everyone for their ideas,
dave
