it would be nice too a translate of opendns.com, all the world doesn't speak english and i want to recommend this site to my friends. i'm sure that many people would like to help translate it. including me -

I don't speak spannish, but does this work: http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.opendns.com%2F&langpair=en%7Ces&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools
It's google translator. http://www.google.com/language_tools -
What we need is a User Community working in the translation of the messages for blocked domains in OpenDNS, so we can provide tranlslations for major languages (apart from English).Thankful People: hawk

I would enjoy a lot to translate OpenDNS to Brazilian Portuguese and Portugal Portuguese. I could also help with LA Spanish.
Contact me any time you need.Thankful People: danbedford, brittain, alexandrevc4 -
That's the best way to integrate community and developers. Google does that a lot.
-
I will gladly translate OpenDNS to polish.

Yo quiero ayudar a traducir OpenDNS al espaƱol

There are people form different coutries working in our company. Please also allow us to enter the custom message in different languages.
Using the browser language setting is my preferred implementation. -
I second that idea. Language settings in browser are just for this task.

Though I strongly urge the need of translations, we should have other ways of selecting languages other than browser-auto-selection.
I know that the majority of browsers are correctly configured to the user's language, but it's not a fact. And sometimes we don't use our own computer.
So my suggestion is to have it also as an option in the Dashboard, for every network we configure. -
But what about the question to block all domains except the ones that i need???Thankful People: itforhire
-
@bpoffice - an allow-only list is not an option at this time.

If OpenDNS had the capability to block all domains except those on my whitelist, I would consider your service to be exactly what I needed.
If you have a wish list, please consider this as a request to make this an option.Thankful People: itforhire, jackol, laurieropt, wizardy -

AdministratorI will note your request in my weekly report to the developers. -

I, too, would like to block 'all except a whitelist'. My company would even be willing to pay a small monthly charge for this.

OpenDNS must start a localization project, lemme say OpenDNS/L10n. From small businesses to large, multi-national corporations, OpenDNS is making the Internet safer, faster, smarter and more reliable for millions of people around the world, but it has to be recognised the need to put more effort into helping the international volunteer community deliver the best possible experience in their locale, and to maintain a strong and consistent worldwide OpenDNS brand. The Internet is full of FAQs about OpenDNS, but I couldn't find in Portuguese a single one with enough dynamism to keep updated reliables instructions. How can we say OpenDNS is reliable if we are reducing the instructions only to English readers? Isn't OpenDNS for everyone?
I strongly recommend the implementation of OpenDNS/L10n as fast as possible. It will improve public relationship and reduce staff over-tasking trying to figure out what a non-English speaker is saying (or trying to). I am aware of Brazil's interest and many users up here are willing to add to the marvelous features two remarkable words: "cultural respect".
Sites like br.opendns.com and pt.opendns.com will be extremely handy to citizens from Brazil and Portugal, respectively. However, there are more advantages than just the language. A localised search engine will bring more revenue to OpenDNS than the currently on use, which is a customised Yahoo! search engine. Hence, it seems wise to make use of Yahoo! Brasil for both Europortuguese and Brazilian Portuguese speakers. The same can be done to the remaining Latin America at once, using a site such as la.opendns.com in Spanish.
I will be more than glad of helping out the development of the Brazil localization. -

Kim Kommando had an article on her site about blocking all but a few sites, but it was for local workstations, so each computer would have to be configured. Not an ideal solution, but it might hold you until OpenDNS adds this feature.
If I'm working at a company that is filtering all but two sites using OpenDNS, I'd probably look up the IP addresses of my favorite sites while I'm at home and write them on an index card. If the employer is filtering with a DNS server, not only will this bypass the filter, but then won't even know anyone went to the site.
