Our regular forum readers have, of course, already learned about OpenDNS and use our service on their networks. (Thank you!)

We want to tell more people about OpenDNS in the right way and in the right place. We have some ideas, and we're adding tools to help our happy customers spread the word. For an example, see "Tell a friend" tab in the Dashboard, top right.

Where else should we spread the word about OpenDNS's benefits and our free service?

Where do you think the smart sysadmins of the world are listening? (Besides here, of course. )

    Curious,

    John Roberts

forums, newsgroups and mail-groups related to security. Also - forums for parents interested in securing their computers, so their kids cannot see adult sites (even accidently).

design an alternate, smaller button that some of us can use in our forum signatures out in the world..

    http://www.opendns.com/buttons/

or even customise it with a UID so that each participant can see just how effective their referrals are, like how the team at spreadfirefox.com do it.

I think the most obvious places are where the nerds go every day and hour... Slashdot, Kuro5hin, Digg.

Other places I would suggest are, as stated above, security related sites.

But, you know, I think the most valuable and effective advertisement medium are the happy costumers and consultants like me that are very glad to spread the word about your services.

Just keep up the good job! (And performance improvement is always a must!)

I first learned about OpenDNS on dslreports.com when my AT&T DSL was offline. I now use OpenDNS on both my router at home and on our DNS Server at the office.

MySpace, youtube (I saw Chris Pirrilo's chat thing with his dad, that was great hehehe), friendster.....

Basically, anything web-two-oh is going to be heard loud and clear :)

I dont know about Facebook....could a facebook "application" be created...? I dont know if FB allows embedded gifs or whatever (to use the opendns buttons) - but maybe a "FB application" would be an idea....? using the current opendns buttons?

Become buddies with corporations like you already have with Mozilla. They'll do some for you :)
