I was trying to watch some Apple ads on, but they don't load. I can, however, watch all of their guided tours and tutorials. I assume it's because the word "ad" is in there, so I added and to my whitelist. However, I still can't watch the Apple ads.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

its not due to the word ad.. at least if it is it's not Opendns doing the Blocking.. Opendns just does DNS blocking not Keyword blocking..

can you give a link to 1 of the pages that the video isnt loading on? every video I have seen there has been hosted on (you dont need to whitelist both and as covers every subdomain of
It's possible the video ads are just taking longer to load

Note that if something is blocked by your OpenDNS filters, you will be getting a "blocked" message. If you don't see one, it's something else.

Look for the domain of the videos, not the one in the browser bar. As leskern suggested, it's probably an Akamai URL.

Thanks for all the responses. And, I'm embarrassed to say, it wasn't OpenDNS. I couldn't watch the ads from work on the same laptop either. Turns out the Firefox extension Adblock Plus was blocking the ads because of the word "ad" even though it used to work before. After putting on the ABP whitelist, the ads started playing.

yeah, adblock plus can be fickle at times, 1 of the reasons I stopped using it.

ABP is an extremely effective tool with a decent list/s and needs to be tuned cautiously. One white list I would recommend for anyone using it is https://* (annoying ads will be on some secure sites) or white listing the domains you visit with a secure connection. Such as: your bank, e-commerce sites.

Personally I prefer a secure connection, especially if I am using bank with shaping on a network. With secure transmission having priority of course. On FF I get my search engines here:

Plenty of secure search engines there.
