    Hi

I'm looking for some alternative to /etc/hosts.
Rather than adding an ip+domainname in that file, I would like to be able to add in in the dashboard of opendns.
That way all computers in my network can use it.
So, something like a shortcut, but for an IP, rather than for a(n) (application)name

Is that something that can be done?

Not for an IP, but for a domain name. Have you looked at Shortcuts?

No, not with OpenDNS. OpenDNS would never allow this, as this would be a big security hole and risk.

The alternative to the hosts file would be an own internal DNS server, where you can configure whatever you want, for example BIND.

OpenDNS shortcuts cannot be domain names, i.e. cannot contain the dot character, and they work as HTTP redirects only, not for any other purpose.
